What is it?

A collection of video-recorded conversations: remembered accounts, personal reflections, best advice. Organized by interviewee and topic.

Who is it for?

People who wish to learn from the healthcare experiences of others, including patients, families of patients, clinicians, caregivers and interested friends.

Who created this site?

This site was conceived, designed and developed by Jennifer Johannesen. Jennifer films/edits/produces all of the videos.

Jennifer has been a patient advocate since the birth of her son Owen, who had multiple severe disabilities, in 1998. Owen passed away in 2010 at the age of 12.

Since then, Jennifer has written a book about her experiences and continues to speak and write about disability issues. Jennifer is also pursuing a Masters degree in Bioethics, due to complete in 2016.

At the moment, The Conversation Library is a personal project, supported and funded solely by Jennifer.

Can I participate?

If you’re interested in being interviewed, please contact me here.

I would like to show the videos to my students/friends/colleagues!

Please review the Terms of Use.  Generally, you are free to share far and wide.  Videos must be attributed to Conversation Library and cannot be digitally manipulated.  You may show only segments of interviews although we (myself and the participants) ask that you maintain the context of the conversations and not ‘cherry-pick’ quotes that do not reflect the intent of the interviewee.

If you are interested in the unedited versions of these interviews, please contact me here.  A small fee may apply.
